Anti-virus protection is enabled for each server when the Zimbra software is installed. The anti-virus software is configured to send messages that have been identified as having a virus to the virus quarantine mailbox.
An email notification is sent to recipients letting them know that a message has been quarantined. The quarantine mailbox message lifetime is set to 7 days.
The Zimbra MTA checks every two hours for any new anti-virus updates from ClamAV and updates to the software are automatically downloaded to the server. You can modify how often the MTA checks for updates. The frequency can be set between 1 and 24 hours.
Important: If you defined an anti-virus notification address during the installation of the Zimbra Collaboration Server, create an anti-virus notification mailbox alias in your admin account, so that notification messages can be delivered to your mailbox.
Procedure
Go to the Configure>Global Settings>AS/AV page.
In the Antivirus Settings section, Definition update frequency (hrs), set how often the MTA checks for updates.
To disable the anti-virus checking, uncheck Block encrypted archives and Send notification to recipient..
Click Save.
